Academic programme – CAPS Curriculum

Foundation Phase (Grade R–3)
In the Foundation Phase (Grades R–3), we aim to build a lifelong love for learning through a development-focused, child-centred approach. Our small, intimate classes allow every learner to receive individual attention from our fully qualified and experienced teachers. We provide a holistic education that supports academic, social, emotional, and physical growth.
Our play-based curriculum includes interactive lessons and creative activities that inspire young minds, build confidence, and establish a strong educational foundation in an enjoyable and meaningful way. This phase helps children thrive in a stimulating, supportive environment where learning feels exciting, purposeful, and engaging.

Intermediate Phase (Grade 4–6)
The Intermediate Phase (Grades 4–6) builds on the foundation laid in earlier years and helps learners develop greater academic independence. Our small class sizes enable teachers to provide personalised guidance that supports confidence, curiosity, and a sense of responsibility.
Learning becomes more structured and content-rich, with a strong emphasis on literacy, numeracy, and the application of knowledge across subjects. Learners strengthen problem-solving skills, deepen their understanding of concepts, and develop effective study habits through interactive lessons and purposeful classroom activities.
This phase supports the social and emotional
development of pre-teens and encourages resilience, self-motivation, and a positive attitude towards learning.

Senior Phase (Grade 7–9)
In the Senior Phase (Grades 7–9), learners consolidate their foundational knowledge and prepare for the Further Education and Training (FET) Phase. Teaching in this phase focuses on conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and the integration of knowledge across subject areas.
As learners move from concrete to abstract thinking, they gain independence, develop collaboration skills, and take greater responsibility for their academic progress. This phase promotes critical reasoning, social awareness, and emotional maturity. It prepares learners for advanced academic expectations and supports their development into well-rounded young adolescents.

FET Phase (Grade 10–11)
The FET Phase (Grades 10–12) equips learners with the academic rigour, discipline, and maturity that they require for their final years of schooling and for future study or career pathways. Teaching focuses on critical thinking, analytical skills, and mastery of subject-specific content.
With structured guidance, focused support, and high expectations, learners develop strong work habits, sound time-management skills, and a responsible approach to their studies. With structured guidance, focused support, and high expectations, students develop strong work habits, time-management skills, and self-responsibility.
